Have a Great 2015!

Report Date: January 1, 2015

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.Fishing this past December was very productive as we caught a wide variety of species.

We started out the month fishing Operation Sailfish in Palm Beach. The sailfishing was slow but we managed to catch 7 sailfish in two days. The meat fish were biting which included big blackfin tuna, mahi, sharks, cobia and kingfish. Even though we didn’t place in the sailfish division we ended up with first place tuna which was good for $2,500.00.

After the tournament it was back to charter fishing Miami. I did my first swordfish trip in several weeks which turned out to be successful. We captured 3-4 swords, two barrelfish, and a handful of kings that day. The fish were not monsters but we did manage to put one in the boat north of 100 lbs.

Shortly after the swords I did several reef trips out of Miami. The kingfish have been biting strong early in the morning and slowing down in the afternoon. Just a few days ago a good friend of mine Sam Fox landed a 60lb wahoo on 20lb. test. An amazing bite which occured only ten feet behind the boat. Hat's off to Sam for his endurance and patience with this exceptional catch. On the bottom we have been catching grouper, snapper, jacks, and cobia.

There have been massive schools of bull sharks circling our artificial reefs over the past two weeks. Bull Sharks are ferocious feeders and will swallow anything in there way. If you would like to target one of these Sea Monsters now would be a good time. They are a blast to catch on Heavy Tackle and sometimes have cobia lurking under them for an added bonus.

The Inshore fishing in Miami has picked up because of the dense schools of baitfish in Biscayne Bay. Among some of the inshore fish we have been catching are kingfish, Spanish mackeral, sea trout, bluefish, ladyfish, and jack crevelle. If you are a novice or have small children in the group I would suggest you try it. I can also arrange half offshore and half inshore which some people prefer.

January is starting to fill up fast as we are in peak season for tourism. If you would like to set up a trip for light or heavy tackle sport fishing please send me an email or give me a call. Happy New Year’s to everyone and have a safe 2015!
