Summer Fun

Report Date: August 8, 2018

This past July I spent a few weeks in Bermuda. The night we arrived one of the captains told us that there was a grander coming to the scale after a nine hour battle. Shortly after, the Sea Toy strolled up to the dock at 9pm to weigh this monster fish which was there first grander after many years of pursuit.Sea Toy is a world class operation run by Bull Tolsen who is a gentlemen and an incredible fisherman.

While I was there I got to fish aboard Reel Addiction with my friend Kraigen and mate Alex where we captured blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, and wahoo. It was a nice change of pace to leave Florida for a little while and hang out with some old friends and family.

When I returned back to Florida it was right back to work. The kingfish and bonita

have been biting well the first few hours in the morning. After the bite slows down we have been anchoring on the reef catching yellowtail snapper, amberjack, big sharks, mutton snapper, and barracuda.

Offshore the mahi fishing has slowed down a bit. It has been a hit or miss bite. There have been some big swordfish caught in the daytime as well as the nighttime. RJ Boyle is throwing his last swordfish tournament this Saturday which will be an indicator to see if the bite progresses.

I still have some availabilities this month and next. The winds have died down and it has been flat calm every day and looks to stay this way for the next week or so. With this calm weather it gives us an opportunity to fish the Bahamas and travel to the swordfish grounds comfortably.

Take advantage of the summer glass and give me a call if you would like to go fishing.
