Grouper season is open

Report Date: May 2, 2016

Fishing has been very consistent the past few weeks. The sailfish bite has slowed down a bit but the meat fish have showed up. We have been catching blackfin tunas late in the afternoon along with some big kingfish up to 47 lbs. There are still some big dolphin from 3-700 ft. offshore underneath frigate birds. The dolphin have been averaging 15-30lbs.

Grouper season is now open. They have been left alone for the past five months now it is time to take some for table fare. These deep sea warriors have been on the shallow ship wrecks and ledges off Miami. While fishing for groupers you always have a chance of catching mutton snappers, cobia, amberjacks, and big sharks just to name a few.

The swordfish bite has been hot the last few weeks. I haven’t had a chance to target them yet but I hear of some great reports just 18 miles from shore.

For the next few weeks fishing should continue to be good. There is a wide variety of species waiting for us to catch. If you would like to book a trip, you can call me on my cell phone or write me an email. All the information is listed on my website.

Tight lines,

Capt. Fred David
